As a technology professional, being actively involved in continuous learning is crucial to my success. When acquiring new skills or sharpening existing skills, I typically try to apply them to a specific project, personal or not. I sometimes share my learning experience on my blog. But planning and keeping track of these skills and their applications requires a lot of organization skills. I needed a web application to help me organize, track and share my skills to be prepared for the next opportunity!
Also, as an executive, finding good developers has always been very challenging since qualifying candidates based on work experience summaries and a list of skills is difficult. But what if people tracked and shared their skills on a site? What if you could see what projects and concrete activities used these skills? What if these skills were showcased in online-portfolios? What if their skills map and inventory was always current and available for potential employers or clients? Could this new approach have the potential to make resumes obsolete?
